Hello, hello! I feel like I have not been in blog land for so long! But I am back! And so much to share! Lots of little trips have been taken! Brussels and Bruges in Belgium and Barcelona in Spain. Then Scotland next week, followed by a quick trip to Paris! We have less than 3 weeks left in the UK! It has gone so fast! Our little adventure is almost over! We are especially looking forward to a 'holiday' in Koh Samui on our way home back to Geelong! But first, let me tell you all about Brussels.......
Grand Place was a huge 'square' surrounded by big, beautiful, ornate buildings. Some were covered in gold guilt. And at nighttime, the buildings are lit up and it really is a very pretty sight!
During the day, Grand Place was buzzing with people, a very popular meeting place for friends and tour groups. But at night, it is just as busy but so much quieter. Everyone is in awe of how beautiful it really is.
We stumbled across another building all on it's own. It was the Royal Palace....I haven't googled who actually lives here, but we were invited to visit the Palace for free and take photos! This is unheard of across the UK and Europe! It was an amazing building and just beautiful inside!
All throughout the Palace, giant chandeliers hung from the ceilings. And in the Throne Room there must have been at least 20 of them! I would not like to be the person who has to 'dust' them! They were just stunning!
And not so stunning was this little guy! This is 'Manneken Pis'. I'm not too sure of what his purpose is but he is very popular and always had a crowd around him, taking his photo! Sometimes overnight, someone will secretly dress him up in a little outfit, but we only saw him in his birthday suit!
And of course, the food of Belgium! My goodness, the chocolate and the waffles were to die for! I tried to be a little healthy and have a banana on my waffle! Yes, it was drowned in pure chocolate but still, a little healthy!?
