A day off came along last Friday and me and Sam were up before the birds to board the ferry to Sorrento....
The ride across from Queenscliff was fairly smooth considering the awful weather we had the night before and the sunrise was a little bit nice!
I dropped Sam off quite early at a golf course (there goes our romantic day together!!) and arranged to pick him up after for lunch, so I had the morning to drive (the new car...) and explore!
Heronswood is atop of Dromana, overlooking the bay and contains The Diggers Club which feature old fashioned and heirloom varieties of fruit, vegies and plants. No one else was there. It was quiet, sunny and a little bit inspiring. I bought some dutch cream and salad red potatoes to plant in my very own vegie garden....
It was a really pretty place to walk in the sunshine and the quietness.....
I could have been in the hills of France.....
I then followed the signs to Gunnamatta beach. The surf was up! Again, I was the only one there. Oh, I wish my new little vegie patch overlooked something like this.....
I wandered back to Sorrento and walked along Shelley Beach in Portsea.
I watched the ferry float by.
I looked for shells along the sand.
I gazed up at the holiday houses and dreamt....
A quick snack before lunch as I watched the world pass by........
A lovely mug of hot chocolate to warm me up and a teeny tiny flourless orange muffin, which cost me $8! For the muffin! Madness! But yum.....
Lunch was a big panini and crunchy chips, shared together and talking about our own little day and what we saw, what we experienced and what we want to do again.....
It was a lovely day off to discover what is just across the bay.
But next time, instead of cramming it all in one day, maybe we may just linger a little bit longer.....
